In the area
around the cathedral and close to the Santa Clara Church are some stretches of
the city's old Fernandine Wall.
The Fernandinde
Wall was the second ring of defensive walls, with a perimeter of roughly 3,400
metres, was finished in the reign of Dom Fernando in the fourteenth century.
