Luis I Bridge, Porto

The Dom Luis I Bridge is one of the most recognizable symbols of Oporto and one of the top engineering nineteenth century in Europe.

Designed by Teófilo Seiryg , a disciple of Gustave Eiffel and built in iron, this bridge allowed the fluid communication between Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia linking both banks of the river Douro at two heights .

Today Luis I bridge, still performs its function at full capacity, and superior board of trams , and the lower the traffic pedestrian areas in addition to the two platforms.
It is usually frequented by tourists going from side to side as well as those who simply want to enjoy the magnificent view over the mouth of the Douro , the old area of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia.
